Classy Arsenal dominate Napoli. But is 2-0 enough?

Arsenal 2 Napoli 0
Ramsey 15 Torreira 25
Since I don’t rate Serie A, I believe that Arsenal will play Valencia in the Europa League semi-final.

Villarreal 1 Valencia 3?

Two very late goals gave the bigger Spanish club a huge advantage going into the second leg.

A beautifully slick Arsenal move brought the first goal .

The ball was switched by Maitland-Niles to Ozil to Ramsey to Ozil to Lacazette, who found Maitland-Niles running beyond him into the box and then AMN supplied a tidy assist.

Very few midfielders are as clinical as Ramsey on chances like that.

The return of Lucas Torreira was a big factor and it was his deflected shot off defender Koulibaly that made it 2-0.

In seven visits to Premier League teams in European competition, Napoli have lost five and drawn two.

I thought Napoli were bang average because they were made to look average. With 13 shots on target, Arsenal should have made the second leg a formality.

But Unai Emery’s methods are working  well and I’m keeping faith with him.

In the Europa League, he’s proved that he can go anywhere and dig out a result. He has done that again and again and he’ll do the same in Naples.

Chelsea are in the semi-finals after Marcos Alonso headed in a late cross from Willian to give them a 1-0 against Slavia in Prague.

Skavia are a good side and Sarri had to bring on Hazard (50) and Kante (68) and Loftus-Cheek (75) before Alonso was able to nod in that valuable late goal.

A friend went to the Arsenal game and said Napoli were good in the second half.

He’s apprehensive about the second leg.

But I’m not. Not today anyway.
