Emery has said Denis Suarez could start against Bournemouth tonight.
I hope he does start the winger because I want to see Suarez play. If I never see him, I’ll always wonder why he’s not on the pitch. You will do the same.
I believe he’s a two-footed forward with pace who can break down either flank, cut inside, pass sweetly and shoot hard.
But if Suarez, 25, never starts, we’ll never know what he can do and the season will be over before we see him. If he plays, he can improve and contribute. If he’s a sub, he won’t. And if he’s not good enough to start against Bournemouth at home then why is he at the club?
There also talk of Arsenal signing former Chelsea academy kid Nathan Ake, who joined was loaned to Watford before he was loaned to Bournemouth in 2016.
I see Ake as very much Unai Emery’s kind of asset : a rugged, versatile 24-year-old Dutchman who can also operate as a defensive midfielder.
As it happens, I’m a big fan of buying from within the Premier League wherever possible.
But would Eddie Howe want to sell Nathan Ake? I don’t think so.
Chelsea v Spurs might be an exciting game tonight.
Sarri says he thought about dropping the mutinous Kepa.
During Sunday’s penalty shoot-out against Man City in the Carabao Cup Final, David Seaman was watching Kepa closely and said he wasn’t fit.
I agree with big Dave. If he’d been fit, Kepa wouldn’t have allowed a powder-puff pen by Aguero to go under him. Kepa’s tantrum upset the concentration of the whole team, so it was no wonder they lost the shoot-out.
Chelsea will be delighted that Dele Alli isn’t playing, as he usually scores against them.
However, I think their defence is made for Kane and Son, so I’m expecting goals at both ends tonight.
Pochettino, my favourite manager, is assessing Dele day by day and he might come back against Borussia Dortmund next week.
I was talking to a friend about Man United 0 Liverpool 0 and we both thought that Liverpool were not the same team after Firmino went off early.
Without the Brazilian, Salah and Mane became invisible.
But Liverpool should bounce back against Watford tonight.
