Emery’s Arsenal are a second-half team. Unbeaten in 21 games

Arsenal 1 Huddersfield 0

Aubameyang was a bit flaky and erratic, probably because the service to him was feeble.

He needs crosses and passes from a precise winger like Anders Limpar.

But in the last ten minutes Auba produced an assist that was crucial. Guendouzi aimed a crossfield pass nicely to Auba, who managed to hook the ball back across the goalmouth.

When the cross came behind Torreira, he threw himself backwards and hooked in a volley for 1-0  in 83. The little dynamo has been Arsenal’s best player this month.

1-0 to the Arsenal?  That score was once common. It was fundamental. 1-0 was part of Arsenal’s DNA – and it can be again.

Lacazette had a cheeky goal disallowed. After looking at five replays,  I thought Laca wasn’t offside and the goal should have stood.

Guendouzi has finesse and vision and loves to launch attacks with 25-yard passes. Here he was allowed  to roam around quite freely because Emery, expecting a physical; game, used a five-man midfield again.

Second half, the teenager blotted his copybook with a silly dive that got a yellow card. That booking was fully deserved. You are in England now, son. In France you might call that professionalism but we call it cheating.

Three Arsenal players booked for diving in one game!

Despite some clownish play by Xhaka and others, watching Arsenal has become fun again.  The fans are enjoying the team’s consistency and competitive energy.

Emery is unbeaten in 21 games, 14 in the Premier League.

WEIRD STAT : Arsenal have still not led in a league game at half-time.  That is this Head Coach’s trademark.
