I reckon Barcelona will be European Champions again.
Because they have Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The just-announced Champions League quarter-finals are:
Ajax v Juventus
Liverpool v Porto
Tottenham v Man City
Barcelona v Man United
The first legs are on April 9 and 10.
The draw for the semi-finals was also made today:
Spurs or City v Ajax or Juventus
Barcelona or Man United v Liverpool or Porto.
Those games are on April 30th and May 1st.
I think City are now good enough to outplay and outscore Juventus.
But I don’t mind if Spurs knock them out.
Barcelona v Liverpool would be an epic semi-final and the winner of that will have enough confidence to pick up the Cup With Big Ears.
As some Europeans call it. The expression refers to the design of the trophy, which has rather large handles.
The final is on Saturday June 1st in Madrid.
The last Premier League club to win the trophy was Chelsea, who beat Bayern Munich on penalties in 2012.
Pep Guardiola has qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals in nine of his 10 campaigns as a manager.
Barcelona have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the 12th successive season. They have huge experience, their own style of play, plus the magical Messi and super-warrior Suarez.
