Ozil is world class, says Jeff

From Jeff Morrison : Ozil

While I do understand the venom aimed at the squad in general for being a bunch of son-in-laws (pretty funny actually), I still think Ozil is world class.

He may not have the mentality of a Keown or Vieira, but Arsenal supporters have to see that era as what it was – a very different era for everyone, not just Arsenal.

I’m sure United supporters miss Keane.

But the whole league has changed since Abramovich came along and blew the scale way out of whack. Sure, Mourinho is good at instilling that us against the world mentality, but look how much he’s doing it with world class soon to be billionaires. City are doing it differently, but one could argue more successfully. But it’s no coincidence that City and Chelski are one two every year.

As for Ozil, he’ll never be the embodiment of passion on the pitch. Just not him.

But he has the most sublime touch and amazing vision.

There’s credence to the claim that if he were still supplying Ronaldo and other gladiators he would still be shining, but when you’re trying to supply donkeys like Giroud it’s a tough road. I also think, as someone else recently observed about him, that he’s so good he makes it look effortless, never keeping the ball very long, usually one touch passing. I think his completion rate is the best in the league or close to?

I’d be frustrated if I were him too. And I would also argue with whoever commented that his running is meaningless, but it seems to me it’s just very well calculated, and he can burn when he needs to, but again he’s so smooth that it all looks a little too effortless for a lot of people’s taste.

Sorry, rant over. Just tired of hearing him lumped in with the others.

I think he’s so special, but being wasted in this team at this time.

No, he’s not a Bergkamp, no one will ever be again.

But can you imagine the Invincibles with Ozil in the ranks? Scary good.

From Qasim Kirmani : Keown/Van Nistelrooy

I remember watching that Keown incident.

He got slaughtered for it at the time and everyone came down hard on the players and the club afterwards, but I often think that our 49-game run was in some ways set up by that moment.

It might have been ugly but the passion of the players was palpable.

Myles says:

Alexis Sanchez is being wasted as well.

But I think the Copa America winner will score at Newcastle today.
