Spanish defender Mario Hermoso has the class Arsenal need

I’ve heard that Barcelona have struggled to replace Raul Sanllehi.

But Barca are still top of La Liga.

After 12 games, Messi, Luis Suarez and company have 24 points, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Alaves have 23 points and Barcelona’s second club, Espanyol, have 21.

Real Madrid are stuttering in sixth place on 20.

Arsenal are said to be interested in 23-year-old Espanyol centreback Mario Hermoso, one of the fastest-rising stars of Spanish football.

Hermoso has played every La Liga game so far and scored two goals and Espanyol have kept five clean sheets so far. That’s why he’s just been called into the national squad.

His release clause is 40m euros.

Hermoso was sold to Espanyol by Real Madrid, who have a 7.5m euro buy-back clause and reports in Spain now say Real now want to re-sign their academy graduate.

Spain, like Portugal and France, is a huge producer of footballers and the parents of Robert Pires were French and Portuguese.

Cesc Fabregas arrived at Arsenal fifteen years ago and was sold back to Barcelona in 2011. Fabregas was and is a very special footballer.

It’s now 2018 and not too soon to sign another major Spanish talent and if if anybody has the expertise to make that deal happen, it’s Raul Sanllehi.
