With Van Dijk, Fabinho & Salah, Liverpool can take City’s title

Mo Salah is in very good form right now.

He’s been playing at centre forward for most of the last two months.

Salah scored the first goal and provided the assist for the second.
He jabbed home from seven yards and after a fine Fabinho cutback from the right touchline. And the Egyptian’s eye for a quick pass is as sharp as his eye for a quick shot.

Klopp is making Fabinho a far better footballer than he ever was at Monaco.

While the individual improves the collective, it’s sometimes the opposite: the collective lifts the individual.

When Salah’s pinpoint cross found the outstretched left boot of Virgil Van Dijk in 69, it was 0-2 and game over.

So Liverpool stay top of the table.

They’ve only conceded seven league goals by Christmas and have conceded fewer goals from set-pieces (2) than any other team in the Premier League.

Klopperpool are usually fun to watch.

Organised but passionate, playing a system with huge collective application, they have flair in the front third and also, at times, in the middle third.

Their team spirit is tremendous and right now it looks as if they can go the distance. James Milner has already gone the distance.

At 32, Milner is the third-youngest footballer to play 500 Premier League games.

He has scored 51 goals.

After 79 minutes Mrs Palmer said, “The game’s been played in a good spirit. It’s been competitive but not cynical. They’ve had no arguments with the referee, they’ve just played football.”

Virgil Van Dijk’s interview was very assured. What a charmer!

Klopp says: We might need 105 points.

I had thought of betting on Liverpool .

But I usually bet on home wins. So I backed Borussia Dortmund to beat Moenchengladbach and they won 2-1.

Jadon Sancho scored the first brilliantly from a very narrow angle, then Christoph Kramer equalised in first half stoppage time. Marco Reus got the winner in 54.

In 2014 a judge in Dortmund fined Reus 540,000 euros for driving without a licence. The silly boy had picked up at least five speeding tickets but had never passed a driving test and was using a forged Dutch licence.

If a defendant has a high salary, a German judge can fine him an amount appropriate to his earnings .

Reus, now 29, passed his test two years later.

Is Burnley a must-win game for Arsenal today?

Feels a bit like that. Ozil is back in the squad and if he plays he has to make a difference.

Arsenal v Burnley is a 12.30 kick-off on Sky.

A Merry Christmas to all our readers.

Have a good one!
